This fund is open to organizations working in areas such as physical literacy, early talent development, inclusive access to sports, and long-term athlete development. Through this Request for Proposal (RFP), we aim to identify and support high-impact organizations, helping them grow, strengthen their work, and expand their reach.​

Our larger vision is to build a healthier, more active India where sport becomes a powerful driver of inclusive growth and lasting transformation.

TARGET ORGANISATIONS

Organizations focused on athlete development

including but not limited to those engaged in early-stage talent identification, long-term athlete nurturing, and team-based sports programs geared toward competitive progression at the state, national, or international levels.

Organizations leveraging Sports, Physical Activity and play based activities interventions for social development

including but not limited to those organizations implementing early childhood development programs, school based interventions, community based interventions, programs specifically designed to address social or geographical vulnerabilities of a certain population.

ELIGIBILITY
CRITERIA

In addition to aligning with the defined programmatic categories, organizations must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for support under the Chhalaang Fund: 

  • Be a legally registered not-for-profit or Section 8 company in India with a minimum of 3 years of operations in the Sports for Development and/or Sports domain at the time of application. 

  • Hold relevant registrations such as 12A, 80G, and (if applicable) FCRA, along with up-to-date audited financial statements.

  • Have a minimum of 3 full-time staff engaged in core operations or program implementation.

DESIRABLE 
CRITERIA

While not mandatory, organizations with the following attributes may receive added consideration during the selection process:

  • Focus on system-level outcomes, beyond individual participation.

  • Active presence or program experience in underserved regions or with marginalized communities.

  • Strong commitment to gender inclusion, equity, and/or para-sports.

  • Existing collaborations with schools, sports federations, or local partners.

  • Clear potential and readiness to scale, replicate, or share learnings across programs or geographies.

SELECTION PROCESS
APPLICATION SCREENING

Applications will be screened for legal and financial compliance, programmatic relevance, and organizational readiness. This includes verifying registrations (12A, 80G, FCRA if applicable), reviewing audited financials, Theory of Change, governance structure, and prior grant management experience.
